Paint Consultations

Everyone knows that a fresh coat of paint can completely transform a space. With any number of colors, sheens, and manufacturers to choose from, finding the right color can be overwhelming. We can help you find the perfect paint to fit your vibe, breathing new life into your space.

  • In-person visit to see your space, existing furniture and the architectural style of your home

The Process

  • First meeting

    At Folkhouse, we like to get to know our Clients before we even start thinking about their space. We discuss your dreams, goals, vision and budget, as well as how you want to live in your space and what your values and priorities are. Once we have an understanding of how you want your home to feel, we send over a contract and get started.

  • Visualization

    Next, we transcribe what we learned in our initial meeting into a visual representation of our ideas for your space. Depending on the scope of the project, this can include mood boards, material selections, inspiration images, paint chips, fabric samples, and initial floorplans. This is where we determine your "vibe" and all agree on the vision, so we can start digging deep into the details. We will always refer back to what we created in this stage to help with decision making throughout the entire project.

  • Design & Documentation

    Once we are all excited about the vision we get into actual selections and drawings. Each project will have different levels of complexity and different timelines, but we like to take our time in this phase to ensure that details are captured and the design is fully thought out and documented. This saves our Clients time and money during Construction. The final deliverable is a full set of Construction Documents, physical samples of all finish selections, and complete furniture matrix showing total budget for all items that will be purchased by Folkhouse. The Construction Documents can be given to the Contractor for accurate budgeting for interior finishes and construction.

  • Budgeting

    Although not usually anyone's favorite phase, it's crucial at this point to make sure that the whole team (Client, Folkhouse, Contractor) are aligned on and comfortable with the Budget before any Purchasing or Construction begins. We want our Clients to feel like their money is being used wisely and spending is in alignment with their priorities. If needed, this is where we can adjust selections and tweak designs to achieve our Client's budget goals. One the final budget is approved, we are ready to go!

  • Purchasing

    While the Contractor is beginning Construction, we at Folkhouse are busy with Purchasing. We handle all of the final specifications, ordering, shipping and logistics, and storage for our Clients, while also getting them the best deals we can. Unlike some other Interior Designers, our fee structure isn't based solely on marking up furniture, so we are always our Clients' advocates when it comes to saving money.

  • Construction

    During Construction, Folkhouse is regularly visiting the project to make sure what's documented in the drawings is accurately built in your space. We make ourselves available for any questions or approvals needed by the Contractor, and help problem solve when changes inevitably come up. We value teamwork and communication, and just want to make sure the final result stays true to the team's original vision. We also know quality, and can catch any mistakes before they become difficult to fix. We are our Clients' advocates on site.

  • Install & Styling

    The best phase has finally come: Installation! Once Construction is complete we deliver everything Folkhouse has purchased for the Client, install according to the floorplans, add the final touches, and photograph the space. Our Clients can be as involved as they want to be in this. It's almost time to move in!

  • Project Completion

    This is it: Construction is complete, the space is furnished, and we happily turn the space back to its owners. We provide all product manuals, tear sheets, specifications and maintenance documents to our Clients for future reference, and feel good knowing that they will love this space for years to come. Of course, our favorite Clients are repeat Clients, so we hope to work on more projects with you in the future!

  • This is flexible and can be based on your preference and project.

    Sometimes we charge hourly, and sometimes a flat fee makes the most sense. When purchasing items for you, we split the discount we receive as a designer so that you pay less than retail whenever possible!

  • We work on projects big and small — from helping you select and purchase a single sofa to designing the entire house down to the bed linens.

  • It's totally up to you and your project — but it doesn't have to.

    We love to mix higher priced items with vintage or second hand pieces, and love working with what you might already have to save money! At the beginning of the project we will discuss what you would like to spend and the size of your project and determine our scope from there.

  • The short answer is — we don't have a signature style.

    When we’re working on your project, we’re focused on helping you define your style and designing accordingly. We always try to use a lot of natural materials, handcrafted items, and vintage pieces to give a space a unique look that no one else will have. One that is soft, welcoming, and looks lived-in vs. freshly store-bought.
